"TO HELP OUR BOYS"

There is something very fino and stirring in' tho simple and publicspirited letter (appearing elsewhere in this issue) addressed bya family of sheepfai-mers to tho National Secretary of the Y.M.O.A. The writers enclose a cheque for £1000 "to help our boys at tho front," tho sum in question representing their estimated war profits on the sale of Ihgir wool clip. "That extra money," tho writers state, "does not belong to its, but to the boys who are fighting for us." So'they send it along "to help the boys." It is a handsome gift, and the donors wish it to be used by the Y.M.C.A. in the purchase of comforts for our troops at the front. Tho campaign originated by the Y.M.C.A. is specially intended to supply our soldiers with comforts which may assist to alleviate the hardships ol winter in the trenches—a period during which gifts from homo will he especially welcome. It has been explained on previous occasions that special arrangements have been made for cabling the money to England, and that the Y.M.O.A.'s organisation is exceptionally welt situated to.ensure that the most suitable comforts will be secured for the men and also that they will reach their destination promptly. • The sum required to carry out tho schomo thoroughly is about £12,000, the whole of which will be spent on the articles and goods purchased. With the generous contribution just received the amount available is brought up to £3500, so that it will bo seen that if the supply of comforts is to bo maintained many further donations will bo needed. It is a .great opportunity for those who are' in a position to assist. ■ There is no better means available of doing something practical which is certain to directly benefit the men who _ are righting for us than by sending a donation to this fund.
