Entertainment at Anzac Club, Featherston. On Thursday ovening tlio social hall ot : tho club was tilled with soldiers and their lady friends, the hostesses being 'Me'sdamcs Archibald Clark, Q. Donald, and Miss Card. About twenty-live tables participated in a... progressive euchre tournament, the winners being: Sergeant T. Virtue (men) and Corporal Simpson "(ladies), Lieutenant' Ellis and Mrs. J. W. M'Kain being awarded tho consolation prizes. Songs were contributed by Miss Mina Oaldojy, Miss Dora Y : arney, Mrs. Ernest Luks, and recitations by Miss Zita Chapman, all of whom had como up from "Wellington lor the purpose. • Among the donations received towards tho Soldiers' Christmas dinner at Trentham Camp are:—The Wellington Meat Co., iambs, and they will cook the puddings, as 'they did last year; Gear Co., 25 lambs, and suet for puddings; Barber and Co., 15 lambs. Thb Mayor has solicited assistance from the freezing companies throughout the Wellington district. Women's Anti-Corman League. The monthly report of the Women's Anti-German League, brought before tho executive by the secretary (Mrs. Moore), showed that much work was being done in tho interests of our soldiers. Tho • correspondence, for the month has been heavy, to tho Government and private individuals fifty-three letters were sent out, and forty-three received. There were also several deputations to Ministers, and private inquiries were received and attended to. Lotters' from Franco and England and Salonika had boon received, convoying information of value therein to the league. Letters received from Madamo Boufve and Mrs. Wall (Miss Beatrico Day) brought ths sad news of Mrs. \Wall's sou. being wounded, at wbich. regret was expressed by the executive. Mrs. T.. H. Lowry * (vice-president) has now returned from her trip, and is again taking an activo interest in the league and its workings,' and .giving must, valuable assistance 'to the executive. The names of many aliens have been submitted to the . Government- for their consideration, and the committeo have had tbo satisfaction of knowing that -somo have not been accepted- for service in tho Reinforce-, ments. This is the principal object of tho- league. A further donation of. £50 has been received from Mrs. T. H. Lowry (Hawke's Bay), also 'further donations oF furniture for the nso of the league from Messrs.- Veitch and Allan, Cuba Street,- and Mrs. Marmont. A stool given by Mrs. Moore was auctioned in tho rooms, and a good'sum realised for the benefit of the' funds.''.. The subject of German •trade was discussed, and satisfaction was expressed at tho determination, of the Prime Minister, who declared in London that New Zealand was determined to eliminate German trade. A statement- made by the Acting-Prime Minister at tho Chamber of Commerce, to the effect that after the war trade would havo to be carried on witli tho German murderers wus severely criticised. The Ladies'-Auxiliary of the Navy League acknowledges with thanks parcels of -warm clothing .for the lesser auxiliary craft of tho Fleet from the following ladies:—Mrs. Wilford, Mrs. Leslie Gorton (Fcildiug), and per Mrs. Gorton (Bulls).. The treasurer of tho Auxiliary Branch • (Mrs. C. E. [ Soldiers' Comforts Fund. Tho following donations have been received by tlio lion, treasurer of the above fuud during November:—Women's Committee of tlie British Red Cross, Wellington, £100; Mrs. 'John -Hutchc'son, £1; Miss Coates, 10s.; Mrs. laud Mrs. P. JlacLeau, £1; Miss C. L. 8,., £1; from Pahiatua, 4 crates of oggs; Mrs. Eckford, sweets, jam, and cigarettes. - ■ ' ! Miss Campbell's Entertainment. Tho day has come, and to-night' Miss Campbell's entertainment will be held in the Grand Opera House.' The proceeds go towards the expenses for the Christmas party which is being given on December 10 in tho Town Hall for tho families of New Zealand sailors and soldiers, and which promises to be a great success. Miss Campbell's'entertainment promises to be a very charming one. Beautiful ballets and solo dances will bo nut on. The Misses Joyce Couzcns, Ngaire Phipson, Frances Muter, and Hazel Hardwicko are appearing in very pretty parts, and their dresses are artistic and suitable. The instrumental part of the programme is very .fine. Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone and Mr.. Haydn Beck are giving items, and are accompanying the dancers. Mr. Sigard Lestrup" will givo several songs. Miss Har-diuge-Maltby is producing a scene from Shakespeare, and Miss Marjory Nicholls a recitation. Mrs. J\ M! B. Fisher aud hclpors are selling sweets' and flowers and programmes in tho interval. The affair should be very enjoyable indeed , and deserves patronage for its own merit, as well as for the cause in'the interest of which it has been organised. , For Dr. Barnardo's Homos, The first box-opening of the Kalbirnie School Branch of tho Young Helpers' League of the Br. Barnardo's Homes took place ou Thursday afternoon at the Hataitai Bowling Chili's pavilion, where tho children and their friends were entertained to afternoon, tea by Mrs. Seville, assisted, by Mrs. Greeuslade and others. Mr. Worboys, headmaster, presided, and .introduced Mrs. Seville (vice-president), who spoke on the subject of the work of the Barnardo Homes, and suggested the forming of a senior branch to extend the work during tho coming year. An excel-' lent programme was provided by Miss Shepherd aud Mrs. fortune, assisted by Master .Fergus Itcqvos and so'me of the school-children. Miss Dunn (hon. treasurer) supervised the opening pf tho. boxes. Tho contents, which-were counted.by Messrs..'Shepherd aiid Forrest; totalled tho sum of £7 Ss.
