WOOL REQUISITION

'accumulation of stocks. r Tlia Gisborna correspondent of the Auckland "Herald" wrote - on Tuesday: —"The broken weather which has been .experienced since the. opening of the 'shearing season, although inconvenient to I'arraerß .throughout tho district, has proved somothing in the nature of a, blessing, in view of the decision of tho Imperial authorities to, requisition tho wool clip: Had tho weather remained fine tho wool would have poured into town, and the stores would soon have been taxed to their utmost capacity, pending assessment of value's and shipment on tho Homo Government's account. As it is, the wool clip has been coming in freely, and by the end of the month it is anticipated the stores will he full. The instructions issued by the Government were to stack for exhibition, but this has been found imjiracticable by some firms, who are taking samples and dumping as the various clips come in. Others are stacking sample bales of the various clips and dumping the balance. The position, as represented by" tho Mavor, Mr. Sherratt, to ihe Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald, is becoming' acute, and tho Wool Brokers' Association has been in communication with tho Government, with a view to utilising, the Garrison 'Hall for storage. A reply has been received agreeing to a portion of the' space being made available. It is in/ tended that tho wool shall pass through ,th© usual channels, but it is understood that details in connection with the question of commission, etc.,' 'are subject to further negotiations proceeding between the wool '■ brokers and tho Government. A meeting of local growers is to'be ,held ion Thursday' afternoon to further consider the' ar'rangements, and a. committee will bo set up to represent farmers'-interest's."
