A PECULIAR FIRE
FURNITURE DESTROYED DURING REMOVAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gore, November 30. A serious firo is reported from Waikaia, and is surrounded by soma unusual circumstances. Mr. W. N. Bond's furniture was being conveyed lrora Argyle Station (which had been sold by him) to Switzer's Railway Sta.' tion- by traction engine. Possibly a spark from, the engine ignited the wagon, and tho whole consignment was damaged. No time was lost in running tho furniture to a stream, but this had little effect. Somo of the furniture was much prized, and consisted of heirlooms. The total damage Itn 6 "" 1 to k° i"- tu< > vicinity of £800. » hetner or not it is covered by insurance is unknown.
