TURKEY IN TROUBLE WITH AMERICA
CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES DETAINED AT JAFFA Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Kec. November 29, 11.35 p.m.) Washington, November 28. The American Ambassador at _ Constantinople states that despite his remonstrances, Turkey refuses to allow ' several hundred Americans to leave via Jaffa, owing to military reasons. Tha . officials say that the resoruces of diplomacy have become almost exhausted. ' The praotieal internment of the; Americans is a source of The Government is considering the question of taking action. The American Consul at Tiflis states : that terrible sufferings have been en- • dured by Armenians : after a year of hiding in caves, and hunted like wild animals. Thousands of refugees are • coming from Turkey, and being fed in ; Russia, but are. almost destitute of bedding and clothing. They suffered indescribable agonies owing to the climate, and thousands •of women and children are homeless and destitute.
