DRIVERS' DISPUTE
—. >. THE CONFERENCE ADJOURNED. Representatives of tho Drivers' Union and the 1 employers of drivers met yesterday in conferenco with the Acting-Minister of Labour (Mr.'' AV. H. Hemes). -The conferenco sat continuously for the whole of the day, adjourning at about 5 p.m. to meet again this mornW. The only announcement made was that tho parties would meet on tho following day, and that in the meantime there was "nothing for publi-, cation." There had been lio agreement when the conferenco rose, nor had_ there been a final closure of negotiations. j A. joint meeting of the AVellington hranohos of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners passed the following resolution _ unanimously:— "AVe extend our cordial sympathy to the drivers in their efforts to secure- a living wage for themselves and families', and trust they will be successful, and pledge ourselves to give them all. the support in our power."
