PLOT TO MASSACRE THE VENIZELISTS
VICTIMS' HOUSES MARKED
RUMANIA'S PERIL
HOPEFUL REVIEW. OF THE SITUATION '
ANOTHEE- VICTORY IN THE
BALKANS
The most sinister news of tho war to-day are the rumours of a Greek Royalist plot to sack and burn all tho' Venizelist establishments, in the event of the French 'Naval Commander, Admiral du Fournet, acting upon the terms of his ultimatum requiring the surrender of all Greek arms and munitions by_ a certain date. A bugle call, it is stated, will be the signal for a second St. Bartholomew's Eve. All the Venizelist establishments and houses nave been marked. In Rumania the situation is no worse, and various comments by competent observers lend! a hopeful colour to the future. The solution * of the situation lies mainly with Russia, who is exerting powerful efforts to concentrate large forces at threatened points. The victorious advance in the Balkans is also another factor i anct the situation in that theatre is further brightened by the news of a brilliant-Fra-uco-Serbian. victory, in which an important mountain position of great strategical value has been carried by assault. The news from the other theatres discloses no developments of importance.
