Arrived.—Westralia (4.15 a.m.), from Wellington. SHIPS DELAYED. Owing to the very heavy rain yesterday, practically no work was done on the wharves, and consequently a number of ships were put off till to-day. Among the postponements was the Corinna, which did no work, and it is doubtful if sho will get away for Dunedin until Wednesday. Loading on the Paloona was delayed, and she now sails this, evening for Dunedin direct, whers she will lay up. Other smaller vessels delayed were the Blenheim for llavelock and Pelorus -Sound, theKoutunui for the East Coast, the Regulus for Picton. the Kapiti for Wanganui. and the Kapuni for Patea, all of which should have got away yesterday, but now go today. On the West Coast, the Waimea and Alexander are delayed owing to heavy weather, and the Union Company adviso that no work whatever was done nt Westport yesterday. On the East Coast of the South Island the Monowai arid Westralia have .been delayed owing.. to lieavy rain, and snipping in southern ports is deTanged. Thecaptainof the Ripple reports that outside in the Strait the weather is exceedingly' thick',* and ho took from 4 o'clock yesterday mornintr till late last evening to bring the Ripj)le from Cape Palliser to Wellington. WAITOTARA FOR WELLINGTON. The Union Compauy advise that, the Waitotara left Sydney at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and is due at Wellington on Thursday next. At Wellington she will complete loading for San Francisco, and the Union Company advise that she will leave here on Saturday. The Waitotara is the latest addition to the company's fleet, and was formerly known here as the Dalmorc, under which name she came to Wellington to load for the Scales Limf about eighteen months ago. Captain Parry is in command. WARNING TO MARINERS. .The Marine Department advise that they have received advico from the Collector of Customs at Nelson, which states that the master of the Kennedy (Captain Henry) reports that a large spar is floating in the track of shipping off Opouri (? Ofiuri) Point, French Pass. Mariners are warned to keep a. sharp look-out for this obstacle. WESTRALIA DELAYED. The .FTuddart-Parker Co. adviso that the Westralia has been delayed in Dunedin, and docs not leave there until to-morrow for Wellington, via Lyttelton. Sho is due here ou Friday next, a. day late, and sails the same day for Sydney, via northern ports. , The Ngatoro is due here from Greymouth ou Friday with coal,

On arrival liero to-day from Sydney direct, the Kiverlna will berth at No. 1 North Queen's "Wharf No word by wiTeless was received last evening, and she is not expected until this afternoon. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain O. T. Norton has come ashore from tho Paloona for orders, and Captain J. T. Iteid has replaced him. Mr. J. Bi-osco. first mate of the Paloona, has signed off, and has been replaced by Mr. H. Barber. • Mr. E. Kane, second mate of the Paloona. lias'como ashore. Mr. F. E. Fraine, third mate of the Corinna, has signed off the vessel's articles. Mr. K. Gorrie, late assistant purser of the Victoria, has joined tile Westralia as purser, in.placo of Mr. C. Hadgmaii, -who has come ashore. The Breeze is due from Wanganui this morning with butter, and proceeds to Lyttelton later in the day to load again for Wellington. . ' Dalgety and Co. advise that the Orepuki will leave Lyttelton to-morrow for Wellington, and is due hero ou Thursday. She will sail on Thursday for Kelson, Tarakohe. and Nydia Bay. * Weather permitting, the Ngahere sails for Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Greymouth to-day. The Opawa, from Liverpool, via Australian and northern New v Zealand ports arrived in Wellington yesterday with about MOO tons of cargo to discharge.. Weather delayed her operations yesterday. Greymouth hopes to. dispatch the Karu to-morrow morning with' a part-load of timber for Wellington. She then proceeds to Lyttelton to finish discharge. The Monowai, which has been delayed a day in the south on account of rain, is expected here at about 10 o|clocli this morning, and the Union Com pay advise that she will receive cargo till noon for Auckland only, and no cargo at all for either Napier or Gisborne.
