A GERMAN INTRIGUE ?
UNITED STATES FOOD EXPORT EMBARGO MOOTED
FARMERS AND LABOUR ON OPPOSITE SIDES
Australian-Sew Zealand Cablo Association. New York, November 24. The convention of the National Grange, the most powerful farmers' organisation in tlio United States., unanimously voted against any embargo on tho export of wheat and foodstuffs. Tho convention of tho American Federation of Labour unanimously voted in favour of an embargo on the export of wheat and other foodstuffs until prices are' normal. There is every indication that an attempt to pass such a Bill when Congress meets on December 4 will be assisted by German propaganda. The "Neiv York World" warns Congressmen not to fall into a GermanAmerican trap. An embargo, it says would paralyse industry, and would 'inmet infinitely greater injury upon America than the Allies, and would cause new complications at Home and abroad.
