—— •; THE NAVAL RIFLE CLUB. - The Old Wellington Naval Defence Rifle Club, held their, annual meeting at the lx>at station on Wednesday evening;. President J. Rabe. occupied the • chair, and there was a fairly large attndance of members. In the course of the president's remarks to . the members, he regretted exceedingly' that the new range at Miramar had been condemned, and as the club had been unable to obtain targets elsewhere for the past season, all matches had to be cancelled. The club|, however, hope to come to eome .arrangement this season to carry on shooting. Trophies presented to the club last year will be competed for, if possible, but instead of accepting trophies, the. winners have agreed to accept certificates I and to hand, the value of the i prize won to some patriotic fund. * Tho election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Col. John Duncan; president, J. Rabe (reelected) ; deputy T presideut, W. Harris (reelected); hoiu secretary, F. E. Franklyn (re-elected); hon. .treasurer, J. Alexander (re-elected); . committee, J. Claydon, R. Pringle, F. Standidge, A. Fellows, and R. C. Collins, the first four being reelected! ha'ndicapper, R. Fellows; selection committee, J. Rabe, W. Harris, A. Fellows; auditor, tA. Guise; delegates to Rifle Club Union, J. Rabe, W. Harris, and F. E. Franklyn. The balanceshcet showed the club's financial position to be satisfactory. Since the beginning of the war the ranks of the club have been considerably depleted by the enlistment of a number of its members. Those to enlist since tho last ' annual report are as follow.— Lieut. M.'E. 'Dehniston, Rllmn. R. Bishop, Rflmn. G. W. Dixon, and Rflinn. A. H. Williams.
