LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

PEACE PROPOGANDA

Sir, —A cablegram of tho 22nd instant states;, "The 'New York Times' states: 'The war is over It is now only necessary for the Powers to see that the objects for which they are fighting can be embodied in terms of peace ' " Why on earth do the British Press agencies dance the German peace propaganda tune so glaringly? Again: "Amsterdam, November 21. A German semi-official review of the fighting declares that .... the British and French offensive has failed. I calculate that the amazing ineptitude of the British Press in thus daily sapping the will of tho people to fight to the finish will cost our Empire alone £20,000,000. Immediately von Buclow left Switzerland, tho peace propaganda telegrams stopped. He is back again. Again they appear. To tho disgrace of the intelligence of Press men they are sown broadcast. The publishers of lies and libels do more damage than the originator. The thing should bo stopped. Effectual protest should be made by the New Zealand Government— i am, etc., . M.
