The steamer Araluen is' due to arrive (it 'Auckland' about November 29. from Montreal. This, is the date given by mail, though it is probablo that she. will get to Auckland n. couple of days before, vessels of her type generally taking twentyseven davs from Colon. The Araluen is a ship of 5513 tons, and is n. captured Herman steamer. The Commonwealth Government own the Araluen, which is <-oiu.',i£ here under charter-to tilt- New Zealand Shipping Company. . Captain Nenglc is in charge-of her. She left, Montreal with a general cargo for Auckland and other Dominion ports on October 11.' and Colon en l'dute on October 50. She is due at- Wellington about December 6.

' The Port Chalmers arrived at Sydney in Ihurßday. When she will leave Sydney for New Zealand ports in continuation of. her voyage from London depends on whether she has or can get sufficient coal to bring her on to Auckland. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. : Captain F. S. Horn proceeded to Sydney, by the Moerakl on Thursday. ■ Mr. James Brown signed on the Takapuna.as third, engineer yesterday. V ' llr. H. _K. Swain, late assistant purser of the Niagara, is at present waiting orders in Dunedln. llr. James Boyd, being the. only applicant for the position of signalman-pilot at Westport, was appointed to tho position at. the last meeting ot the Westport Harbour Board. t The Ngakuta left Greymouth last evening, and Is due here on Sunday. She will probably return to Greymouth' dri Monday. The Waverley arrived in port from Patea yesterday, and leaves to-day on the return trip. She is due back here on Tuesday. The Regulus is due to-day from Greymouth, and discharges a part cargo for Petono. on Monday. She leaves again on Monday for Picton to complete discharge, The Westralia is due at 8 o'clock this morning from Sydney, via northern ports, and berths at No. 1 south Queen's Wharf to discharge about 530 tons of cargo. She leaves for Duncdin direct" to pick up her time-table, and is duo back here on Thursday next, and leaves tho same day for Sydney, via northern ports. Johnston and Co. advise that the Ripple will now get hero on Monday from Gisborne, via.. tho East Coast, and will sail on Tuesday. for Napier, Gisborne, and Akitio. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. advise that the Hawera if in- Wellington on Wednesday next will go on the Patent Slip for. cleaning and painting. It is expected that the. .Corinna "will leave New Plymouth at noOn to-day, and is due to-morrow morning with a full cdrgo of dairy produce. - The Mapourika left Westport at 9 a.m. yesterday, and was to have left Nelson at 11 o'clock last night. She is due here' this morning at 9, o'clock, and has 90 tons of general cargo, and the usual amount of coal to discharge. The Tainui from Waitara arrived last evening with a cargo te tranship for a Home boat. She -will be receiving general cargo on Monday, and sails oh Monday evening for Waitara. The schooner Andy Mahony is now 97 days out from San Francisco to Auckland. Cablegrams from 'Frisco some time ago stated that she left there on August 20 for Auckland with-a cargo of case-oil and a deck cargo of timber. Seventy-six days is the record for the same passage during the last eight years. The Golden Gate, which left about, the same time, has/ar-. rived liore, discharged at two ports, and left for Australia, and some -word of the Andy Mahony is now eagerly -waited for. Messrs. G. H. Scales, Limited, have received cable advice that the Century passed through Panama Canal on Saturday last, and is due in Wellington about December 12. . . Advice -was received by the Marine Department yesterday morning that . the Hinemoa. had worked Portland Island, and was to land at East Cape yesterday. She is due at Auckland, via Mercury. Bay and Cuvier Island on Monday. A four-masted barque passed the Heads at 8 o'clock yesterday morning going cost. It is hoped, to get the Waiporl away, this evening for Lyttelton to complete discharge of her cargo of coal. The Union Company advise that the Pftloona will receive Dunedin cargo until 11 o'clock this morning. The Kamo's running has now been changed, and she leaves here at noon today for Westport. and will then go on to Greymouth, and return to Wellington. She then goes to Napier..
