MEAT PURCHASES

THE AMENDED ARRANGEMENTS. The amended arrangements for the purchase of New Zealand meat on behalf of the Imperial Government are published in the Gazette. The new scale of prices, already published throughout the Dominion, is fixed for the period of the wax, and for at least three months after the close of the war. The 1 prices apply to all meat from stock slaughtered on and after October 20, 1916, and available for export. The storage . charges, against which protest was made on behalf of the Imperial authorities, are to-be reduced by 25 per cent, as, from .November 1, 191(5. The new scale provides that no storage shall be payable until after one month has expired, .when the rate shall be 3-32*1. per lb. -per calendar month or any portion, of a month, the total storage charge not to exceed 9-32 d. per lb.
