RETURNED SOLDIERS' FUND TOURNEY. Ail open tourney in. aid of the Returned Soldiers' Fund was playedi on tho Brougham Hill courts yesterday afternoon, under conditions that were ftlmost perfect. The games were arranged in eight rounds, whereby it was possible for a player to score 240 '.points. / At the conclusion of tho afternoon's play the competitors came out ill the following order:— Mr. W. E. Howe, 238 (men's winner); Mr. Ualbraith, 230; Miss Bennett (lady winner); Miss Box, 225; Miss A. Howo, Mr. Ay. E. Howe, 222; Mrs.-Wake, 222; Miss Stevens, 219; Miss Carrick, 216;' Miss Tipling, 216; Miss Comby, 215; Mr. Harris, 212; Miss Fossette, i! 07; Ill's. Bell, 196; Miss Adams, 195. , A further tournament in aid of the samo fund, in which each player must wear fancy dress, is to bo played on tlie Brougham Hill courts on Saturday, December 2. Entries close with Mr. J. A. 13. Howo the evoning before.
