Five hundred tons of cargo were picked up at Sydney, thus relieving some of the pressure caused by the delay to the Victoria, and in addition to this she has a large cargo for the Dominion, £500 tons of which are for Auckland. She is to leave Auckland to-morrow, and is due here early on Monday morning. WANAKA LEAVES SYDNEY. The Union Company's Wanaka, which was reported hy cable to have ogam been. detained at Sydney on account of salvage claims, left Sydney, according to cable advice received last niglit, at noon on November 21, for Auckland. ATHENIO DUE THURSDAY._ Tho head office of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the Athenic, which left Hobart in continuation of her voyage from London on Tuesday, and which is due at Auckland on Sunday, should get down here on Thursday. '• WIMMERA'S MOVEMENTS. The Huddart-Parker Co. advise that it depends on how the Australian coal strike goes on as to whether the Wimmera will come on to Now Zealand on Saturday, and she will in all probability lay up at Melbourne. BLACKBALL BOAT-S. . Mr Turner, local agent for the Blackball Coal Company, advises that the Ngatoro is due to-day from Greymouth, and will sail late to-night for Greymouth. The Ngakuta leaves Greymouth this morning. and is due here to-morrow. She will probably leave for Greymouth again on Saturday, and will load for Wellington on/ Monday. The Ngahere, which has been working at Whangarei and Auckland, was to have left the latter port last night, and will call at Napier on the way down. Slio will probably get here on Saturday or early on Sunday, instead of Sext Wednesday. NO"CARGO BY TARAWERA. The Tarawera left Lyttelton last night, and is due this morning. She is timed to leave Wellington for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland this evening at 5 o'clock, and the Union Company advise that the <essel will take no Wellington cargo for those ports. ' CUMBERLAND'S OFFICERS. The liner Cumberland, at present in Wellington, is .commanded by Captain M'Gibbon, who has with him the following officers Chief, Mr. Hughes: second, Mr. Slaconochie; third, Mr. Hagenschow; ohief engineer. It is expected that the Pateena, which withdrew from- the Wellington-Lytteltoa running some time ago, will be Tecom-, missioned at Wellington, whore she has been undergoing overhaul, on Wednesday, and will relieve the Takapuna, on the Wellington-Picton-Nelson run. The Takapuna will lay up here again. WATERSIDERS MEET. The adjourned special meeting of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union will bo held this evening. The meeting has now been adjourned three times on account of so many men being engaged on the waterfront. Tho purpose is to consider remits to bo submitted to the Waterside Federation Conference, to be held in Auckland on December 1. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. F. M'Conville, second engineer of the Takapuna, has come ashore on sick leave. Assistant-keeper Garland, of Pcncarrow lighthouse, havT»ig resigned from the service, Mr. A. Wilson lias replaced liim.. Line, fin. islied her charter at Lyttelton on Tuesday, and now will be taken over by her owners, the Xew Zealand Shipping Company, for loading purposes. Discharging operations to the Haupo (ex • Louisa Craig) are lining carried out as expeditiously as possible at Lyttelton. and it is expected that the last of lier cargo of case oil will be landed to-day. She will then be docked for cleaning and paintine, and will probably load for Auckland after that. The Westralia is due here on Saturday— a day late—and in order to make up her time-table will sail for Dunedin direct on that' day, missins the call at Lyttelton. The Himitangi 1 . should have arrived at Waiknigi (Chatham Islands) last night, nnd should leave there to-day for Lyttelton. . The flags of the various snips in port, and also the house flags of the shipping companies, wore flown at half-mast yesterday. as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Cantain Ward, of the South Tar.maki and Patea .Shipping Company's staff. The Kokiri loads at Grejmoutli for Wellington later-on in the week. The Waipori leaves Greymouth at 7 o'clock this morning, and ie duo here tomorrow. ' At 9.25 o'clock' yesterday morning the Government steamer Hinemoa left on her quarterly trip round the northern lighthouses. and will be awav about a, month. She will visit Portland Island, East Came, Cuvier Island, the Watchman, and then Auckland, and is due at that port mi Monday. During her trip a search will be made for srn uncharted rock, recently discovered near Mercury Bay.
