The German officer responsible for the first deportations was "also directly responsible for Nurso Cavell's execution"Words aro of no avail in the face of such atrocities," he said. "We cans only respond to every call by the Belgian Government and support its appeal to the civilised world.. The only; final solution is to prosecute tho wair with" out utmost power, and make the liberation of the Belgians a cardinal point." Sir Edward Carson asked if the Government would press neutrals .• to their utmost to prevent such illegalities. Lord Robeut Cecil : "We have done everything possible in that direction. We fed that an appeal would come with the greatest force from the Bel' gian Government."
