For several months southern buyers, have been operatinc largely in the Waikato stock market, and there lias been, a steady-.stream of all classes of growing ■ ca,ttle, chiefly bullocks and young heifera, goin« south. During last week no fewer than five special train-loads of stock left Hamilton for the south, one train alone comprising 820 head of tivo-and-a-half and three-year-old steers. The Auckland "Star's" correspondent says that the hulk of the' cattle are bought for speculation, and, if profit is realised on the sales, there is little doubt that operations will be extended.
