CITY BURGLARY
| The staff of Messrs. J. }!. Clarkson and Co., Ltd., on arrival at tlie oflico in AA'akefield Street yesterday morning discovered that a burglar had effected iin entry during tho night, and had succeeded in obtaining about £'4 from various cash boxes. Entry was made by way of a yard at tho back of the premises, and a window, reached by a flight of steps, boro evidence that tho lock had been forced. Tho window was wido open when the office began business yesterday. A door leading to one of the rooms was burst in and some money taken, tho chain-wheel of a bicycle' having evidently been used as a jemmy. Tne intruder took away same small articles, including a bicycle lamp, but ho was probably a novice, for lie overlooked much of value that might easily have been secured. _ Evidently he had meant to take a bicycle, but for some reason changed his mind, and loft the machine in tho yard.
