! Lieut. Stanley W. Morton, killed in fcction, was a son of the late Mr. S. Morton, a well-known tea planter in jtbe. West Indies. He was 26 years of age. * Lieut. William Fairbairn, killed in fection, was the only son of Mr. Andrew [Fairbairn, of Ohristchurch. He was only 18 years of age when he enlisted With the Main Body as a gunner in the [artillery. He was an old boy of the AVaitaki Boys' High School, where be took a keen interest in the cadet corps. 'He left the school only a short time beiore he enlisted. He was promoted serjgeant at Gallipoli, and received his commission last March. Lieut. Fairbairn (had been with the New' Zealand Artillery throughout without any leave. > News has been received in Wellington of the death in action of Sergeant John 0. Given, of Invercargill. The late Sergeant Given was well known in '.Wellington, where he was a member jof the Karori Shooting Club. He tvas a highly efficient shot, and . while at (Trentham was one of the champions of Jiis regiment. Before enlisting Sergeant Given was in the employ of Mr. J. J. Cooper, of Ghuznee Street.
