Saturday's cricket at tlio Basin Reserve was marked by small scoring, except in two instances. Midline (East), a batsman with fine records behind him, struck scoring form, and pasted the Old Boys' 1 bowling for 140. Condliffo (also of East) knocked up 850, and tlio sido registered the fine total of 313. So far, Old Boys have responded very feebly—three wicketsdown for 31 Tuns. University v. Institute opened A. match which promises to be a closer contest than that between Hast and Old Boys is likely to be, but Institute stand a good chance' of having a lead of nearly 100 runs on the first innings. Tho first day of the match between North Seniors and Petone was played at Petone. Petone, who batted first, played a full team, while North did. not have time to finish their innings. For North, Henderson made 38 not out, and W. H. Wilson. 24 not out. Mackio took tliree wickets tor 14 runs, and six for 15; Chambers, threo for 5 and threo for 17; and Luckie three for 23. For Hutt, F. Lusty made 22 and G. Lazarus 12. G. Lusty took six wickets for 15 runs, and one for 6; E. Burt two foT 27, and ,1. Clout one for 12. Mackic in the North team, and G. Lusty in the Hutt team, are two good bowlers, and made themselves known to the batsmen. Both are left-handers. As the scores indicato the batsmen did not show any particular form. In the Third Grade, Boys' Institute Old Boys defeated Scots College by aii innings and 85 runs. BOYS' LEAGUE. Senior.—lsland Bay scored 44 and 34, and Boys' Institute 59 and 24 for seven wickets. Boys' Institute won by three wickets and 5 runs. Junior.—Boys' Institute A Team, 107 (L. Calvert 44, W. Tucker 13, E. Cunning- . bam 12, not out); Y.M.C.A., 41 and 15.
