M; Marcel Hutin, in the "Echo-de Paris," writes that after a bombardment of extraordinary insensity with asphyxiating gas and tear shells, 35,000 Germans attacked: the French positions at Prcssoir and Ablaincourt on Wednesday. In spite of the use of flaine throwers, the enemy was unable to dobouch, and the machine-guns and 75's mowed tho Germans down. Ihe attack was most violent at Prcssoir, when the enemy, ten times as numerous as the French, forced the latter to retire a little. Details of the raid made by sixteen Anglo-Frencli aeroplanes on October 25 show that the bulk of the Hrzingen works at Hagcndingon, where steel for big guns is produced, was rendered unworkable lor a considerable time.
