WOUNDED SOLDIERS
1 THE GOLD BBAIO' DISTINCTION. Tho recent British Army Order, directing all officers and men who havo been wounded at tho front to wear a short strip of gold braid on the left sleeve of the service jacket, is repeated in New Zealand General Urders issued yesterday. The Order states: "The following distinctions in dross will bo worn on the scrvico dress jacket by all officers and soldiers who' have been wounded in any of the campaigns sinco August 4, 1914:— ' "Strips of gold Itussia braid, No. 1, 2in. in length, sewn perpendicularly on the left sleeve of the jacket,, to mark each occasion on which wounded. "In the case of officers the lower end of the first strip of gold braid will be immediately abovo the upper point of the flap cuff. Warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, and men will wear the gold braid on the left sleeve, the lower edge of the braid to be 3in. from tho, hottom of the. sleeve. The additional strips of gold braid, marking each subsequent occasion on which wounded, will be placed on either side of the original one at -Jin. interval. "Gold braid and sewings will be obtained free on indent from the Army Ordnance Department; sowing on will be carried out regimentally without expense to the public." A number of officers and men who bave returned from the front and have been wounded are already wearing these badges of distinction in New Zealand.
