THE REOPENING.. /. ' The reopening of the Y.M.C.'A. Institute Building at' Trentham'Canip took place -'on Wednesday night. The house was packed out with soldier's, several hundred being finable to gain ' admission. The Camp Commandant, Colonel Potter, presided. Mr. C. M. Luke, '.chairman of the Y.M.C.A.;Camp-Com-mittee, outlined the various improvements made to the building, and the ?. splendid change in its-appearance. He '■ heartily' congratulated Mr. W. H. Ben- : nett, the contractor, on his work. The Hon. J. Allen, Minister of Defence, heartily congratulated the ciation on its splendid work in the camps and abroad, and declared that \\ needed no words of .commendation froK him, as the .work was too. well known • through the world to-day. ; The national secretary, Mr. E. C.
Brownell, told of the association's activities in the training camps in Australasia, and informed the men that, a cordal welcome awaited them in many of the hutments, or at' tho 1500 centres where the assocation was doing work "'. for soldiers. _ ' : Mr. W. Goudio was in charge of the ' excellent _ musical programme, which 1 was contributed to by the •following:— " [Pianoforte sole, Private Geo. Hollo--1 way; song, Mrs.' H. F. Miss Janie b Petrio; male quartet, "Soldier's Fare- - well"; soloj (vocal), Lieut. Kenneth Luke. • Private Geo. Holloway was the *-' accompanist. The entertainment was 1- closed with'tho singing of "God Save b the King."
