CITY AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Wellington City Council met last evening. There were present the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Councillors W. ,H. P. Barber, G. Frost, J. Godber;'J. Hutcheson, A. R. Atkinson, L. M'Kenzie, AV. H. Bennett, M. F. Luckie, T. Bush, A. Veitch, R. A. Wright, W. T. Hildreth, W. J. Thompson, and J. E. Fitzgerald. It was resolved that, a contract should bo let for-the excavation of the Constable Street Fire Brigade station site. Four electric lamps are to bo installed at tho Island Bay Band Rotunda': In consequence of the cost of constructing Sugar Loaf Road being less ?han Clio estimate, a proportionate refund is to bo made to the property-owners of tho difference between the amounts , levied on tho estimated cost, and what was actually exponded.
