Miss Macandrew and her assistants with the flower • sales on Saturday mornings have done excellent work in raising the sum of £22 14s. 9d. Tho committee continues to send away parcels of material to the country districts, and this material is made up .into the . many articles' which are required and returned" to tho depot. Most-of the-county Red Cross societies ;find;' themselves ; able to pay for the material which as forwarded to them, and the amounts .received from this source are_ shown in the statement as "material supplied to country societies." •

St. John Ambulance warehouse in St. John's Square, London., is working in co-operaition with Colonel Parkes, Chief Medical Officer of the N.Z. Contingent in England, in order to ensure that .the'hospital equipment, comforts, and invalid foods.forwarded from here shall be devoted, as far as is practicable,, to the benefit of New Zealand sick and wounded in the hospitals .in .luigland. .-•;.■-
■The depot is open from 0-30' a.m. until 5 p.m. on "every weekday, excepting Saturday, and tho workers attend . w.'ith splendid consi'staiicy and work haTd and cheerfully and willingly. With fho machines at work and tl'io sorting and packing, addressing and dispatching being done, the workers find their days fully and undoubtedly usefully occupied. Cutting-out is also ah important -part of the work, and tho 'committee is very grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Monnie and the, girls employed at. Messrs. Roberts, N.Z,, Ltd., shirt manufacturers, who kindly gave .their- time and labour on a recent Saturday afternoon- assisting in cut-tmg-out, and making- a largo.number of shirts ready for. dispatch. This: is the second occasion on which the girls havo given up their Saturday afternoon holiday in order to do Red Cross work.. . ~ '
H'hc committee desires to thank tho members of both tho Hataitai and the Island, Bay National. Reserve,for. tho help, given by .the making of cases. . .Advice has been received from the Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs that tho sum of £100 forwarded through him to London, to be used for the purchase of comforts for sick and wounded, soldiers returning to .New Zealand, was-gratefully received, and was expended. under the direction of Captain Norman Dalston, of. the.Wal-ton-on-Thames Hospital, for tho. purposes indicated. At a meeting of the committee on Monday evening it was resolved that a further sum of £100 be cabled for tho same purpose. ■Tho committee regrets that, owing to the top 'floor.of Nathan's Buildings being required for - cable purposes, Messrs. Joseph Nathan and C0.,.wh0 havo so generously allowed the nso of the rooms free of charge for so long, will shortly have to ask the society to vacate fthe present, quarters. Tho committee would, therefore, bo glad to receive offers of suitable accommodation for the workers, for tho duration of tho war, and for some six months afterwards.
