NEW ZEALAND LADIES' GOLF UNION

RED CROSS FOND. For the second year the golf clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union have lield a series of competitions in aid of the Red Cross Fund. Last year the amount raised by this means was £311 135., which was forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs for the use of our men at tlie front. This season golf, like all other pastimes, has been rather slack, but a good many clubs have made a special effort to continue the games in aid of the Red Cross Fund, even if other competitions wore, allowed to lapse. Consequently, up till November 10 the amount 'collected for 1916 is £281 14s. The only charge against this sum is £16 17s. 6d. for medals, leaving available for the New Zealand Red Cross uFnd £264 16s. 6d. In July and September instalments of £75 each were paid over to this fund, and the hon. secretary of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union has now sent on the balanco, £114 16s. 6d. Should any further sums come to hand they will be acknowledged in duo course and forwarded to the Minister in chargo of the fund.
