A Dominion representative made inquiries at tho City Corporation's headquarters yesterday. The answer is to tho effect that though little of a practical nature may yet have been done the campaign is being organised as rai>idly as possible To light tho Ily effectively it was considered imperative to pass a new by-law. The council agreed to this .sonio time ago, and the bvlaw is in the process of being pushed on as quickly as can be. Tho by-law is to bo the corporation's trump card. Tho executive officers of the corporation 'have framed a new law that they consider will be absolutely effective. Tho nature of tho by-law thoy will not reveal.

Among the big problems facing those interested in the eradication of tho is the presence of horse stables in residential localities. On portion of the western side of tho city thero aro some very large stables, and the consequence is said to bo innumerable flies. It is considered that the new by-law will be effective in stables. Some market gardons, also, are a source of trouble. The gardeners get stable manure in and leave- it lying in tho sun for days. It becomes a breeding ground for flics and the houses for chains around become infested with the pest. One_ market, gardener had the cleanly habit of lnnkino- a manure dump almost at the back "door of a. bouse which adjoined his property, mid it wns not until people who were r>uly sliahthiiitereited complained to tbe' corporation that any remedy was attempted.
