SNUBS FOR VON BISSING
SEARCH FOR PROFESSORS FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF GHENT.
The -'Journal de Geneve" recently gave tho following information regarding the University of Ghent (in Belgium):— Since the old University was transformed into a Flemish University by the Germans, General .von Biasing has not been able to secure tho personnel which, as from the mouth of October, was to give instruction in the higher courses iu Flemish. All the professors who .were attached to tho, University before the war, with the exception of three, have refused to recommence their course of instruction. Von Bissing turned his attentions towards Holland, hoping there to find scientists who would be more amenable to his requirements, hut again he failed. Five Dutch professors are known who have declined the. offers of the' German Government. Professor Kloy, of Delft, in his letter stated that his appointment ''would have no moral value in his estimation if it were not made by the Belgian Government."
