TEMPERANCE SUNDAY

He deprecated the refusal of tho representatives of royalty in New Zealand to follow their King in the abolition of drink, although 111 Australia', Canada,' and among tn© Allies it had been banned from, tho legislative and viccregal establishment s, At tho' close of the service tho following motion was moved by Mr. J. Wilson, and carried unanimously :-"That in view of the urgent need for fit men to help to bring this terrible war to a successful issue, this meeting of citizens urges the necessity for steps taken to restrict the liquor traffic during the war, and it also pledges itself to support any movement towards tho suppression of this national clement of defeat." The singing of a verso of the National Anthem closed tho proceedings. ■ ''
