OPAWA AT SYDNEY. The liner Opawa arrived at Sydney on Monday last from Liverpool. Her departure from Sydney is indefinite, owing to the coal strike but she is expected here about the end of the month. WIMMEKA.FOR MELBOURNE. The Vrimmei'a, from Melbourne, arrived in port at 3.30 a.m. yesterday, and later berthed at No. 1 North. Queen's Wharf. Strong northerly winds, increasing to .a gale, on arrival at Cook Strait, were experienced, and the weather in the «tTait was thick and foggy. Dunedin telegraphed yesterday stating that they hoped to dispatch, the Waihora for Wellington, via. Lyttelton, on Saturday. S&e should arrive here about Wednesday next. The Waihora came to Dunedin from Calcutta, via Bluff, and has a general cargo of Eastorn merchandise. The Mapounka managed to. get into Gre'ymouth at 2 p.m. yesterday, and it was hoped to get her away on the return at 11 o'clock iast night. She will ,probably get, back here oiv Sunday. Tho Ngahcre came off the slip at 11 a.m. yesterday, aJid then completed overluaul in tie engine-Toom. Slio sails for Groymouth at 8 or 9 o'clock this morning. The Waverlcy, at present in port, sails to-day for Patea. find is due back on Sunday, and sails for Patea again on Monday.
The Ripple left for Napier and Gisborne yesterday, and is due book on Sunday. She will sail on Tuesday for Napier Gisborne, and Akitlo, and will now continue on her ordinary time-table. The Blenheim sailed for Puponga, yesterday. and is due back to unload, at Bona Bay on Saturday. The Rosamond is at present undergoing overhaul and survey at Port Chalmers. Whilst ipassing through the breakwater at Timaru on Tuesday morning the Somerset,, which left Dunedin on the previous afternoon, collided with some of the outworks and damagod her rudder. The agonts for the vessel state that the damage 13 not serious, and -will bo repaired at Timaru. The vessel -will probably not be delayed by tho mishitp. ■ Tho British Imperial Oil Company's steamer Oyrena, vrtiich recently oame to the Dominion -with a cargo of case oil, left •Lyttelton on Tuesday for Dunedin, Westport, and- Singapore.' The barqiientijic YsaMJ arrived at Auckland on Wednesday evening -with a ea-rgo_ of guano from Surprise Island. This is the second voyage the vessel has made eince being taken, over by Captain Ross from the Scales Line. She will not return to Surprise Island at present, it being the hurricane seaso.n over there, and it is thought that her pert trip -will be to Noumea for a cargo of guano for Auckland.
Mailler and Qucrcau, of New York, in thoir latest report, received in Wellington yesterday, staled: "No material chances since our last report:—The different lines loading for Australia and New Zealand hove ample tonnage on tho berth to care for oil freight offering; in fact, steamers are somewhat slow in loading, and in some capos clearance dates are dolayed. Rates are unchanged, but with tho increasing demand for tonnage chapter rates will probably bo moving upward, and we do not look for lowjer rates."
