An arrival in port this afternoon from Apia via ports, will be the s.s. Talune with'a. cargo of fruit from tho Islands and a part general cargo from Auckland. The Talune is coming on to Wellington on account of tho Victoria being off tho run at present, and there being no other means of getting the fruit down here. ANDY JIAHONY FEOM 'FRISCO. Though there is no need for anrieiy about tho four-masted schooner Andy Hahony, says the Auckland "Star," it is •worth mentioning the fact that she is making an extra long passage from San Francisco to Auckland. She is now 78 days out from the American port. This is the longest passage made by a sailer for eight years past. During recent years, the record for lengthy passages from San Francisco to Auckland have been held by the schooner Kona (76 day's), the M. Turner (76 days), and the schooner H.M. Smith (75 days). The long trips were mado at about the same time as this, so

that the length of the Andy Mahony's sailing is due probably to similar conditions. . PORT ELLIOT REACHES LONDON. The C. and D. Lino advise that the Port Elliot, which left Wellington in August for London, via Australian ports, arrived at London on October 30. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. A. E. Young has signed on the Takapuna as second mate. Captain J. Janiieson, master of the Defender, has signed off, and has been, replaced by Captain F. E. Naylor, Into second mate of the Calm. Mr. W. Irwin, cnineer on the Defender, has como ashore, and has been replaced by Mr. F. L. Peterson, The Kauri, which left Auckland for Suva lato on Tuesday afternoon, is to load a cargo of raw sugar at the latter port for Auckland. The Union Company's cargo carrier Koromikb, which arrived at Auckland with southern cargo last Sunday, was to have loft that port on Tuesday for Westport, where sho will load coal for Auckland. I The John, at present discharging timber at Miramar, is to sail for southern ports on Friday, and is receiving caryo until 3 p.m. on that day. The Blenheim arrived in port on Tuesday, and leaves to-day for Puponga. She should get back on Friday. The Koutunui, which urrived in port yesterday from Napier and coast, leaves to-day for Terakohe, whero she will load for Napier. The Kiritona, with a. cargo of wool, is duo from Napier and coast on Saturday, and will return to the coast tho same day. The Port Philin should get away to-day for Lyttelton. ??ie heavy rain yesterday prevented tho vessel finishing her work. The Kini is still .at Grcymouth, where a heavy flood-has delayed

The Tarawera was to have left Lyttelton at 6 p.m. yesterday, and is due hero this morning with 200 tons of cargo to discharge, it is hoped, to set her away this evening for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. Tho fitrathavon, running under charter to the TJjS. and A. Line, does not leave for Sydney and Melbourne in continuation of her voyage from New York till to-mor-tow. Tho delay is in connection with getting her bunkers replenished. Tho Ardangarm, from New York direct, was due at Lyttclton yesterday. No word was received last night by telegraoh as to whether the vessel had arrived, but she will probably be delayed on account of tho recent storms. Owing to the rain interfering with ivork yesterday, the Kowhai does not now leave for New Plymouth until noon to-morrow.
