WELLINGTON MEN'S GRIEVANCE.

The dissatisfaction of the Drivers' Union with' the recent award of the Arbitration Court is not confined' to Auckland. The Wellington drivers also are dissatisfied, and they have asked for a conference with their employers. It is hoped that 'this conforence will be granted, and that there will be arranged an amicable settlement. The grievance of the Wellington men is very much more serious on several counts than that of their fellow unionists in Auckland and Christchurch, or so at least they contend. . The cost of living is very much higher here than in any other centre of the Dominion. It is claimed that £2 12s. per week, the award rate for drivers, will bring in Christchureh as much of tho accessaries of lifo as can be purchased for £3 here. It is on this contention chiefly that tho Wellington tmion Tqlies. It is understood that the Wellington men will be satisfied with .-63 a week for singlehorse men and £3 6s. for two-horse men. It is also argued that whereas in' Auckland and elsewhere the employers were ablo to say that tho trade was not flourishing, this could not be said in AYellington, where carriers are very busy.
