_ A pleasant evening, comprising all kinds l of games of cards, arranged by Mrs. MaTcolmson and • Miss Vernor Johnston, was held at the Lyceum Hall,'' Lower Hutt, on Wednesday last, in aid of the Belgian Fund. The hall was kindly lent by Mr. Hayward. The fund will benefit to the extent of £6, that sum having heen subscribed hy the invited guests. _ Mrs. F. W. Phillips is paying a short visit to her son at Eastthorpo. Hawke's Bay. __ A small,band of St. John Ambulance momhers at Feilding has just completed an arduous and enthusiastic campaign for a motor ambulance from Feilding district for the> help of our wounded boys in France, and Mr. J. B. Finlay, secretary of St. John Ambulance Assocation, has received a cheque fbi' _ £650, which has been cabled to Lord Kanfurly, Director of Ambulances. Dr. Henley and Mr. and Mrs.'Chadwick, of Napier, aro visiting Wellington.
