SHARP FIGHTING IN EAST AFRICA

BRITISH POST OVERWHELMINGLY ATTACKED (Aust— N.Z. Cable Assn. and Renter.) London, November 5. An official report from East Africa states that since October 22 there has been fighting between Iringa and Ngouraz, and also eastward of Lupembe. A British post, consisting of fifty rifles, with two guns, after resisting superior ''forces for_ five days, was compelled to evacuate its position.- -, Half the garrison escaped after having rendered the guns useless. A strong enemy .■ force, entrenched westward of the Ruhudje River, was attacked by General Northey and was driven across the river, with heavy losses. The fighting continues. '
