The "Spectator," in an article, says: l 'We are overwhelmed with pride, gratitude and wonder at the enormous selfcompulsion vote in Australia. We think tho huge vote in favour of tho bitter way or devotion 5b ono of the most wonderful and glorious things in human history, (inscription may be defeated, but the spirit of Australia is justified and ennobled. Those who voted against conscription will come as volunteers.. Wo salute Australia in admiration They had a very fine escuse_ for sulking because of what • they might call the "bloody fiasco of Gallipoli.' They 'did not dream of making the slightest suggestion of this kind. They did not demand bnt 'oven deprecated inquiry. This was tlie act of true gentlemen. Hughes (Federal Premier) anticipates that the position wall he fairly defined on Thursday or Friday, when he proposes oalling the whole Labour Party together. EXPELLED BY LABOUR ; EX-FEDERAL PREMIER Sydney, November 4. _ The Political Labour League Executive has expelled Mr. J. C. Watson (ah sx-Federal Premier) from the Labour movement, because of bis attitude towards conscription. THE "NFIUJORITY REDUCED TO 73,149 (Rec. November 5, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, November 5. The latest returns have reduced the "No" majority to 73,149. There are still two hundred thousand votes to count._ The final returns are not likely to be in before Tuesday.
