THE RED CROSS APPEAL
In (Wellington as elsewhere throughout tho Dominion tho "Our Day" appeal for funds for tho Red Cross organisation is meeting with the succcss it so . justly deserves. Tho local effort was cxccllcntly managed, and the organisers were fortunate in securing tho assistance of so many enthusiastic workers as well as generous givers. A day on tho street working at a stall or collecting is very much .more arduous than thoso who have not experienced it may imagine, and tho stallholders have in addition all tho work and worry of gathering together tho articles and goods which they havo to sell. It is gratifying, therefore, to find that tho public showed a proper appreciation of their efforts in tho best way possiblo, that was by becoming willing buyers of all that was offered. The oauso for which they were working is one with which all must sympathise and bo anxious to assist. _ Tho calls inado on tho purses of citizens in connection with war funds of various kinds have been frequent and heavy, birt the "Our Day" appeal is one which no brio able to contribute can ignore without some hcart-searchings. Thoso who missed their opportunity l^ s t week can still.help by sending along their contributions.
