MILITARY BOOTS
THE FIRM THAT WAS FINED £200. By Tokgraph—Press Association. Auckland, November 3. Referring to the statement recently published to tho effect that a boot manufacturer had been fined the sum of £200 by tho Hon. A. M. Myers for breach of contract with the Department, and the further statement fiiai; the report referred to a boot manufacturer of Auckland. Mr. Myers stated that tho reason tho name of tho firm had not been made public was duo to tho fact that no inferior material had been used in tho manufacture of tho boots rejected, the justification for the fine being that one of the firms employed had used shorter tacks in the heels than stipulated for, causing tho heels to become looso. The Minister said he had iust seen Mr. Adam Moore, of Messrs. Adam Moore, Limitod, of Auckland, the firm concerned, and that it ivas Mr. Moore's desiro, with tho concurrence of himself, that tho namo should be made public. Mr. Myers pionted out that Mr. Moore liad supplied over 30,000 pairs of boots to tho Defence Department, and that up to tho delivery referred to had given every satisfaction.
