ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSION

Last Sunday evening a week's mission for the Iloman Catholic women of St. Mary of the Angels' parish was opened by the Marist missioners, Revs. Fathers Taylor, S.M., and A. Herring, S.M. The church was packed to its utmost capacity, and over one hundred men who had hoped to gain admission were obliged to meet in St. Patrick's Hall, when the Itov. Father O'Connell addressed thorn. During the week large congregations have attended the morning devotions at 6, 7, and 9 respectively, and each evening the church has been crowded. The missionaries have delivered eloquent addresses on Catholic doctrine and on matters referring to the foundation and preservation of a high moral character as it should be found in truo womanhood. The special solemnity in honour of the Mother of God was greatly appreciated by all who attended on Thursday evening, when the Hev. A. T. Herring, S.M., urged the women of Wellington to strive to imitate tlio beautiful examplo of home life shown in such I perfection by Mary, the Mother of Josus. The women's mission will come to a close on Sunday by the renewal of baptismal vows and reception of the Papal blessing of Benedict XV. On Sunday evening a week's mission for men will be opened.
