A NEW BOND OF UNION

In describing the "intimate camaradarie" which exists between the British and French soldiers, the 6pecial correspondent of the "Morning i'ost" says:

"In our now bond of union there is one thing else which should not be forgotton. -Our French Allies are deeply sympathetic with our soldiers in, life. Tliey do not forget them in death. Special .ccmcteries have been set apart for our gallant dead, on the soil of France. 1 have seen in many places tliefio mounds of earth and the plain wooden crosses at their head. On the cross is tlio siniplo record of a hero's name and the date on which ho gavo his life for his country. I have seen good, pious peasant women kneel down by tlio sido of these graves and pray for the soul of the departed. Could anything bo nobler or more devotional ? These women do not know who lies there. But they are mothers themselves. Perhaps they havo lost loved ones of their own, and in tlio faith of Catholic Christianity they pray for the son of some other mother whose bravo boy has died that freedom may live."
