MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE CASES. Mr. L. G. iiekl, S.M., presided at tho Magistrat6's_ Court yosfertlny, and hoard the following cases: — John O'Connor ivas charged with tho theft of a. pair of trousers, valued 1 at 10s. 6d., the property of W. F. Hornig, clothior. Accused pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment.
Robort Coleman, a bootmaker, for whom Mr. M.' Myers appeared, was remanded to Monday, charged that, being the occupier of No. G Rintoul Street, ho did keep a common gaming house. For mso'briety two first offenders were convicted and discharged. Edward Smith, charged with insobriety, also with using obsceno language, was fined 205., in default soven days'_ imprisonment. John J. Watson, against whom there was ono previous conviction for insobriety,, was fined 10s., in default to undergo threo days' imprisonment, and James Bell, similarly charged, and with two previous convictions, had his bail of 20s. estreated.
CIVIL BUSINESS. Mr. W. G. lliddell, S.M., dealt with the civil business. . Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the following undefended cases; —Sliarland aiuj Co., Ltd., v. 6. Gardiner, £1 9s. 5d., costs/ss.The Motor Import Co.; Ltd., y. Alaii D. Cuff, £23 3s. 7d., costs £2 _145.; Tho Lawrence and Hanson Electrical Co: v. 11. M. Emerson Electric Contracting Co., £73 Bs. 9d., costs £4 65.; C. B. Buxton v. John Brittain, £5 55., costs £1. ss. 6d.; Oswald Beere v. Eourangi Tamahiri, £20, costs £2 14s. In a judgment summons case, Charles Arthur Glazebrook was ordered to pay E. Barber the sum of £6 15s. Gd., by instalments of 10s. per month.
