BOATS AND MAILS FROM SYDNEY. Owing: to tho Rivcrina's adustmcnts taking" longer than was at first cxpected she does not now leave Sydney for Wellington until Tuesday next, and. is nob due until November 11. The Victoria is also laid up indefinitely iu Sydney, and this means that no boat will come to New Zealand from Sydney until November 11. According to present arrangements the Wimmera will leave Melbourne for Wellington direct to-morrow, and although no information has been received by the Post Office at Wellington there is every possibility that tho Sydney mails will be brought by that vessel, and will arrive here on. Thursday—two days late. If this course is not adopted by the Post Office the mails will not arrive here until, tie following Saturday. REMUERA FROM LONDON. STRATHAYON AT AUCKLAND. At 3.30 o'clock yesterday morning tho TT.S. and A. Line's chartered steamer Strathavon arrived in Auckland from New York, via Panama. The vessel <expected to reach Wellington next Tuesday, and has 1500 t-ons of cargo for discharge here. Sho sails on November 10 for Melbourne find Sydney to complete discharge.

Messrs. Hatrlck and Co. advise that tho Tainui will probably leave Kaipara for Wellington to-day, and will sail for Waitai*a on. Monday. The vessel will not be taking general cargo, however, but will clear up the transhipments which have accumulated on the Wellington wharves for Waitara during the last few weeks, and will sail later next week for Waitara with general cargo. The W-aimana., which left for the south last evening, is expected back in Wellington about November 23 or 24. The steamer Dorset was to have left I yttelton yesterday ito work her way up to Wtinganui. Sho hae been partly insulated. and will be employed by the New Zealand Refrigerating Company principally, in lightering cargoes of meat from the works to tfc© largo steamers in tho road.stoad. Captain Connor is iu charge of th© vessel, and is taking her to wanganui. M The auxiliary schooner Echo will leare to-day for Terakohe. Messrs. Bannatyne andi Co. advise that j the Defender is to sail for Wellington i direct from Hokilika to-morrow, and j should arrive hero on Monday. She will 1 sail for Hokitika on the return trip on Tuesday.
The A. and A. Lino advise that the Hurunui left Sydney on Wednesday morning after colling at Auckland she will come on to Wellington, being due hero on November 13.
Tho Poherua, left Duncdin at 2.30 yesterday afternoon for Wellington, via-'Oamaru. Timaru, and Lyttelton, and is dno here oil Sunday. Sho 'eaves on. Monday for Westport and Grcymouth. The Tarawera left Napier at 1 y.m. yesterday, and is due hero early this morning with 400 tons of cargo for discharge. She will sail this evening for Lyttelton and Dunedin, but tho Union Company advise t.hat she will bo receiving no southern cargo after 11 o'clock this mortiing.' Tho Taluno left Suva, at 7 ryn. oil Wednesday, and is due at Auckland on Monday. She has 3600. oases, of fruit for Wellington, but no arrangements "have yet been made for this amount to come on here, Tho Paloona., with 1150 tons of cargo to discliargc, - is duo this morning, and it Is hoped to get her away at noon on Saturday for Melbourne direct. TJio Mapourika arrived nt Grcymouth yesterday, and was to have left at midnight for Westport, whero sho is due at 7 o'clock this morning. Sho will arrive here via Nelsou, on Saturday morning. ■
Tho Karu loft Grcymouth at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and is duo to arrive here tomorrow night with a. .full load of timber. a ' ' . Tile Kaiapoii is due to-day with coal ana timber from Newcastle. Her futuro movements are not known.. The scow Vesper is still ashore. It will lie. remembered that sho was tho little vessel from which a whole crew disappeared during a recent storm in the north, and she was found floating bottom uppermost off the Great Barrier. There is a rumour afloat in. Auckland to tli7> effect that negotiations are' being made between the 'present owners, Biddick Bros, and a West Coast scow owner. Tho Vesper is to go on the slip. The Senorita left Newcastlo on _ Thursday last for Auckland. Sho brings a cargo of hardwood for that port.
