LAND FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS

POSITION IN CANTERBURY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, November 2. A deputation from the Canterbury Patriotic Society waited upon the I.and Board this afternoon to urgo the board to assist the society in placing returned Canterbury soldiers upon Canterbury land. In reply, the Commissioner said that 90 areas have been submitted to the Land Board, but the prices asked prevented maiiy being acquired. At present forty , thousand acres were being subdivided for closer settlement by returned soldiers, and ten estates were now being, valued in tho province with a view to their acquisition for the same purpose. .
