. meeting of the council. A meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump) presiding. There were also present Councillors W. .A ppleton, A. E. Budd, C. Bowden, J. M./ Dale, J. 'C- Gardiner; and L. A. Browne. ■ The application, of tha KhandaJlan Tennis Club for -remission of rates was declined. ■ The audited balanca-slieet of tha bor"ougli, which the Audit Department had passed without attaching a tag, was presented, and ordered to he printed. . A letter was received from the grapTt Engineer advising that the Department proposed laying an underground cable through the borough, and the borough engineer reported that he had gone over the'ground with an .officer of the Telegraph Department, and the line of the cable decided upon. There -was a long discussion respecting tho Kaiwarra -water supply, tho difference in the supply meter • readings with the consumption of water showing a deficiency of 180,000 gallons_ in the quarter. The engineer stated in his report that he was taking steps to discover 1 how the deficiency arises, and t night readings of- the main meter are to • bo taken. It was suggested that the , ■watering of the Eutt Eoad by the Wellington City, Council may ' have accounted for some of the leakage. The report of the sanitary inspector on certain premises at Ngaio and the District Health Officer's' Teport on the condition of certain premises at Kai-. • -warra were referred to the engineer to deal with. s ,
