Produce, cakeajj swoets, vegetables, havo been pouring into tho ltod Cross depots all yesters day by motor and by rail. - Tho milkman and the paper boy , will' not havo their usual monopoly of our, "early morning streets." 'i'heir rivals' will bo crowds of energetic people erecting stalls at all the busiest corners of qur streots. Thero will bo stalls for, tho sale of goods at Lambton Station, Government Buildings, Kirkcaldie and: a tains, Genoral Post Office, Bank of N.Z., Mercer Street, Kelburn. Boulcott Street, Winder's Corner,! Voitch and Allan's, Courtenay Place, Rintoul Street, Newtown, top. of KeU: burn tram lino, a.nd all picture shows ill city aro giving 25 per cent, of their, gross takings at all theatres to-day. An evening demonstration will bo held at the Basin, lloscrvo, when massed bands will give a performance, and addresses will be delivered by His Worship tho Mayor (Mr, J. P. Luko), and Mr.' 1). Ono feature of tho big appeal thatj is to be mado to-day for llod Cross funds is the- shop which has been established in Lower Cuba Street—look for tho big Rod Cross flags I This shop is -well stocked with goods that overybody needs —cakes, home-made sweets, elaborate lined toilet-boxes for ladies, slippers for men, dolls' and: children's clothing—all at bargain prices. The gross proceeds go to the fund, everything being _ contributed free. A feature of tho big Red Cross Store is tho variety of parcels, ready stitched up in calico for the post, and containing a capital variety of things needful for mon in the trenches. These are being disposed of at 2s. 6d., Bs., and ss. oach, and are capital value for; the money. An adjunct of the Btorei •will bo the stall to be conducted at the Baric of New.Zoaland corner (opposite Winder's) to-day.
