ADDRESSES BY MINISTERS

(By : TeWffrapli—Special Reporter.) Palmerston North, November 2. A body of troops from tho Axubulanco Training Camp at Awapiuii marchod on to tho showground shortly after 2 clock this afternoon. They wero hca<fcd by a couple of pipers, and their display of excellent marching quite roused "tho big crowd, which applauded warmly. Tho men wero addressed by tho Act-ing-Primo Minister (tho Hon. J. Allen), tho Minister of Customs (tho Hon. Dr. M'Nab), aud Surgcon-Genoral HondcrBon.

Tho Acting-Prime Minister said it was a. great pleasure to seo tho way tho men had inarched on to tho ground. Tho march was a. great tribute to thoso who trained thorn. Now Zealand had already earned a reputation at the front, and wo wanted to maintain that' reputation. Ho was sure thoso men would help to do that. He knew that many of tho ambulanco men had earned distinction, but there wero many who wore not wearing distinction marks booms© their good work had not been seen. Tho men now present wero soon to go to tho front on aai errand of mercy, and ho know ho was' expressing tho oarnest hope of all presont when he Baid he wished them all a _ safo return. Tho training being given at Awapuni Camp was excellent; General Henaorson ofton said so. The staff had done great work, particularly Colonel tnglis, who would soon loavo for tho front. j The Hon. Dr. M'Nab saiJTie had watched with pleasure the example tho meii had given of discipline. Their work was a noble one; there was no part of warfare that required better work, and from what he had seen the men on

parade would worthily -uphold Nov/- Zenland's reputation.' Ho wished: the men a. safe return, and oxpressed tho hope that when they returned they would be a good example to the country. Surgeon-General Henderson, thanked the Mayor and people of Palmorston Nortli for thoir unvarying kindness in assisting tho camp at Awapuni and tho men there.

At the invitation of Mr. J. M. Johnston, Show president, cheers were given for the men. ,
