Y.M.C.A. CONVENTION
NEW ZEALAND MOTIONS,
At, I,ho closing session of I,ho Y.M.C.A. National Convention in Sydney, tlio following motions, on behalf of tho New Zealand delegates, wcro carried
"That, in now of tho practical autonomy enjoyed by tho Now Zealand associations, and pursuant to the request of tho Now Zealand delegates present at tlio National Convention held at Sydney, and submitted at a meeting held on October 21, this convention makes tlio following recommendations to tho' National Committeo of New Zealand:—(l) That the National Oominitteo endeavour to securo tlio expert services of Messrs. Virgo and Wheeler for a period of at least one month each; (2) that during tho visit of Messrs. Virgo and Wheeler, an effort bo mado to securo a guarantee fund covering tho salaries of at least two national officers; (3) that the committea bo urged, as its first business after securing this guarautec, to mako an effort to raiso not less than £20,000 as a permanent National Endowment Fund; (4) that provision be made for the probable necessity of obtaining an associate national secretary to undertake specific departmental duties, as 'directed by the National Committee ; (5) that, taking tho national policy reports as a basis, the widest possible programme be worked out, which shall include pho periodical visits of association experts, to bo presented at a convention to bo called at Dunedin at a date to coincido with the return of the Commission from Prance, and that a cordial invitation be extended to the representatives of tho associations of Anstralia to be present thereat.
