NEW ZEALAND TENNIS ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Li'.vn Tennis Association was held last evening in the Wellington Investment Company!s board room, Mr. H. M. Gore (president) being in the chair. There was a good atcndance of delegates.

The annual report, oil tho motion of tho president, was adopted. Mt. Gore stated that the financial position of the ■ association was sound, and in viow of the war it was not likely that the New Zealand championships would be held. He paid a tributo to those tonnis payers who had gono to the front, and regretted tho vote recorded in Australia against conscription. The followipg were elected officebearers for tho ending year: (.kmi, His Excellency tho Governor, Lord Liverpool; president, Mr. H. 31. (ioie (ro-clected); vice-presidents, Messrs A. .A. Martin (Auckland), Geo. L. Berry (Canterbury), G. H. Pownall ;AYangaliui), R. 0. Tennant (SodM'Uud), 13. li Couston (Otago), F. Logan (Hawke's Itey), Dr. H. B. (Tara:ial:i), J). J. F. 'Bennett (Marlborough), and tho presidents of tho Nolson and West ; Coast Associations; delegate to the Lawn Tennis Association, Mr. A. E. Beamish; delegates to the Lawn Tennis 'Association.of Australasia, Messrs. V. H. Baxter, H. S. Fox, Ross Gore, and C. T. Me'calfe; committee of. management, Messrs. H M. Gore, M. E. Denntston, A. G. Henderson, D. Murray ICean, M. F. Listone, G. F. Smytlie, and R. N. K. Swanston; hon. auditor, Mr. C. E. Easton; and secretary, Mr. Arthur J. Potheriek.

With rcspect to tho Wilding Memorial; it was , decided to defer consideration of the matter until after tho war. Tho amount in hand is about £73.

A motion of condolence with tho relatives of thoso members of tho association, and especially the jelatives ot M/.jor Fleming Ross and Mr. F. 13. Spilsbury, who havo mado tlio extreme sacrifice for tho Empiro, was passed.
