A CHILL SOUTHERLY
Yesterday was distinctly chilly, with occasional showers iu the early part of the morning. The wind came up strongly from tho south, increasing, in force as the day wore on, but.casing again with tho approach of dusk. A fairly big swell was rolling in from tho Strait, while flying squalls ripped tho spume from the big rollers.. Tho indications yesterday pointed to strong but decreasing soutli-easters, and cool weather with passing showers on the East Coast. The weather is expected to improve for a brief interval, but the barometer, which is rising at present, is not expectcd to remain high for very long.
