The Moeraki-this week's Sydney boatsailed, at noon on Thursday from Sydney, and is due hero on Monday morning. She has 1150 tons of cargo to discharge here, and also carries 65 saloon and 66 steerage passengers. MAORI'S BUSKING. Sinco the Maori left Dunedin on Tuesday she has practically not had a decent stop anywhere. Certainly she had a full day here on Thursday, but since that it has • been a constant bustle. She left hero on Thursday night, and on arrival at liy Helton did not stop long enough, to pick up anything, on account of having to got back hero last night, to run again to Lyttelton. She got alongside the wiiarf at about 7.30 o'clock last evening, and a very busy scene was witnessed, there hoing about 100 passengers ami a\so a largo amount of mail to get aboard. The mall itself took a fair time to put aboard, and, together with the luggage for sveh a number ol passengers, qvito a smaxt DctfovmOTttce was rnoAa in setting the vessel cleared and ready for her trip south again in the three-quarters of an hour, by which, timo she -was ready to sail. She returns on morning, and will now carry on the routine of the ferry sorvlco. PORT CHALMERS LEAVES THE CAPE. The C. and D. Lino advise that the steamer Port Ohalmers (ox Whakarua), ■which loft London on September 29, left Oape Town-in continuation of her voyage on October 24. Her nort ports of call in order will bo Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. She is due hero about December 20. The vessel is ono of 6534 tons, and is commanded by Captain Duncan. BLACKBALL BOATS. The Ngaherc is due here on Tuesday, and will go on the slip for cleaning and painting. Tho Ngatoro passed tho Heads on her way from Napier to Greymouth at 10 a.m. yesterday. The Ngakuta leaves Greymouth at 11 a.m. to-day, and is duo here on Sunday at noon. PALOONA LEAVES MELBOURNE. . Tho Paloona sailed from Melbourno on Thursday, and should arrive at Bluff on Monday. Sho comes on to Wellington, via way ports, and is due here next Friday, and is to sail this day week for Melbourne direct. VICTORIA DELAYED. The Huddart-Parker Co. advise that tho Victoria from Auckland is duo at Sydney some timo on Monday. Also that her sailing from Sydney has been postponed indefinitely, owing to adjustments having to bo mado in jtho engine-room. RIPPLE'S TIME-TABLE. The Hippie, which left hero for Napier and Gisborno on Wednesday, is duo back from the latter port on Sunday. She sails on Monday for Napier only with a full cargo of bales of wool packs for tho Hawkc's Bay district. Messrs. Johnston and Co. advise that the vesol will take no other cargo. Sho will get back near tho end of the wook from Napior, and will sail for the coast again immediately.
MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. E. Short joined tho'Maori as assistant purser last evening. Captain Baldwin, on leave from the Koromiko, arrived in Wellington yesterday morning. Captain Owens is in charge of tho barqucntine Wanganni, which arrived at Kaipara on Thursday from Newcastle. Captain Owcns's son, Arthur, recently went into camp at Trontham, and it is probable that tho captain will come south to see him before leaving the Dominion. The New Zealand-owned barque Louisa Craig, now bound from San Francisco to Lyttclton, has the following' cargo:—73sl cases benzine, 10,000 cases coal oil; 13,000 cases distillate; and 3000 cased of motor spirit. Only slight . damage resulted to the Polierua when sho 'grounded recently on Wakamoa Kcef, Banks' Peninsula. ' A survey in tho Port Chalmers dock showed that there wero ouly two dents in the lower part of the .vessel's hull. Tho Katoa, which arrived in Wellington from Singapore on October 14, and which afterwards went, on to Auckland, is now in dock at that port undergoing survey and 'overhaul. Slio afterwards leaves for Wcstport. . . From southern ports the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Turakina is due back to-morrow. Tho Mapourika left Grcymouth at 8.30 a.m. yesterday, and Nelson hopes to dispatch her at -10 a.m: to-day for Wellington. Sho should arrive to-night, and will lcavo on Tuesday on the return trip. Tho Kosamond left New Plymouth last night, and is due hero to-day. She leaves on Monday evening for Timaru and Dunedin, and is receiving cargo until noon for thoso ports. , Tho Ooriuna, sailed from New Plymouth at 1 p.m. yesterday, and is dne hero this morning. She leaves this evening for aCcw Plymouth again, at which port sho will load butter for Wellington. Tho Awahou, according to present arrangements, is to go to Wcstport on Monday. The Alexander is duo from Wanganui on Tuesday, and her next trip will probably be to Nelson and the West Coast. Latest ndvico is to the effect that tho Waimea will sail for Picton and tho West Coast to-day, missing the call at Nelson. The Port Napier leaves Wanganui for Lyttelton this evening. On arrival hero this morning tho Westralia will berth at No. 1 north Queen's Wharf to nut out 200 tons of' caigo. Sho leave sngain this afternoon for Dunedin direct in order to pick up lier time-table. The Dofcndcr.' left on Thursday for Blackball, Grcymouth, and Ilokitika. She is expected back about Wednesday noxt, but her day of arrival is uot yet certain. ' The Koutunui is duo on Sunday from tho East Coast with a cargo of wool. Sho returns to tho East Coast on Monday.
