DAY'S BAY IMPROVEMENTS
DRAINAGE AND .WATER. The City Engineer (Mr. W. H. Morton) las prepared plans and estimates recently for tlie installation of water and drainngo systems at Day's Bay, but since tho bay is beyond the Oity boundary, the City Council cannot undertake the work on its own account. ResiHents, however, aro moving to have tho water and drainage scheme brought into operation. Yesterday a deputation, comprising Messrs. D. M. Inndlay. E. G. F. Zohrab, and A. W. Press, waited upon tho Mayor of Wellington (Mr. .T. P. Luke), and asked. for detailed information which' might fan submitted to a meeting of residents on Saturday isigbt. Tho City Engineer was present, and supplied full particulars of the scheme.
The position is that if the work is to be carried out, t.ho Hutt County Council, in whose rating area the bay is included, will require to enter into an agreemont with the City _ Council on questions of finance. Possibly the bay may be constituted a special rating area to provide for this.
